10th Annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals

Bristol Dragway; Bristol, Tenn.

Post-Event Wrap-Up

Top Fuel – Larry Dixon

Qualifying:     Larry Dixon was the No. 3 qualifier at the Thunder Valley Nationals.  He recorded his best time Friday evening when he ran 3.882-second pass at 311.71 mph. Dixon has qualified in the top three at 11 of the 12 races so far this season.

Eliminations: Dixon faced No. 14 qualifier Morgan Lucas in the first round of eliminations but was unable to get the win. Lucas advanced with a 3.988-second pass that beat Dixon’s 4.009 second elapsed time. It was just the second time this season that Dixon was eliminated in the first round.

Point Standings: Dixon remains the leader in the NHRA Full Throttle Top Fuel point standings.  He leads Tony Schumacher by 123 points.

Dixon on Bristol: “The Al-Anabi Toyota team just missed the setup this weekend, and we weren’t able to advance to the second round.  We still have a great car and a great team.  The car has everyone’s full attention, and we’ll do everything we can to right the ship by the time we roll into Norwalk (Ohio) next weekend.  The Al-Anabi team will be ready to go when we get there.”

Funny Car – Del Worsham

Qualifying:    Del Worsham was the No. 4 qualifier at Bristol.  Friday evening, he ran a 4.186-second pass at 300.80 mph. It was Worsham’s seventh top-five qualifying effort in the 12 races so far this season.

Eliminations: Worsham defeated Robert Hight and Jack Beckman before losing to Tim Wilkerson in the semifinals.

Point Standings: Worsham will remain in eighth place in the NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car point standings. He trails seventh-place Ron Capps by 31 points and leads ninth-place Tim Wilkerson by one point.

Worsham on Bristol: “This was good weekend for the Al-Anabi Racing Toyota team, and now we have two in a row.  We went to the finals last week in Englishtown and to the semifinals today in Bristol so our Al-Anabi team is moving in right direction.  We are definitely looking forward to Norwalk this coming weekend. I’ve said all season that once we started winning some rounds, the race wins would follow.  I think an Al-Anabi Funny Car win is just a matter of time now.”

Next Race: The Al-Anabi Racing team will be back in action June 23-25 at the fourth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals in Norwalk, Ohio. For additional information, please visit www.nhra.com.
