NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series

31st Annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals

Bandimere Speedway; Morrison, Colo.

Post-Event Wrap-Up

Top Fuel – Larry Dixon

Qualifying:   Larry Dixon was the No. 5 qualifier at the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals.  Dixon recorded a 3.974-second pass at 295.66 mph during the final qualifying session Saturday afternoon.  This race marks just the second time this season that Dixon has qualified outside the top three.

Eliminations: Dixon defeated Morgan Lucas and Tony Schumacher before losing to Brandon Bernstein the semifinals. Dixon has advanced to at least the semifinals in 12 of the 16 races so far this season.

Unofficial Point Standings: With his semifinal win over Schumacher, Dixon clinched the top seed in the Countdown to 1 NHRA Playoffs.  Dixon leaves Denver with a 229-point lead over Schumacher in the NHRA Full Throttle Top Fuel point standings.

Dixon on Denver: “Today wasn’t our day. We had a good run going in the semifinals, and the car pulled the tires loose for whatever reason.  The consolation prize is the Al-Anabi Toyota team locked in the No. 1 seed for the Countdown (Countdown to 1 NHRA Playoffs), and getting those extra 30 points over whoever ends up No. 2 when the Countdown begins is big.  I’ve said before that we sure could have used those extra 30 points last season so I’m glad to have them this year."

Funny Car – Del Worsham

Qualifying:    Del Worsham was the No. 3 qualifier at the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals.  Worsham recorded his 4.191-second pass at 294.75 mph during the second qualifying session Friday evening.

Eliminations: Worsham defeated Jeff Diehl before losing to Cruz Pedregon in the second round of eliminations.  With his first-round win today, Worsham clinched a spot in the 2010 Countdown to 1 NHRA Playoffs.

Unofficial Point Standings: Worsham remains ninth in the NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car point standings.  He leads 10th place Tony Pedregon by 164 points and trails eighth-place Ashley Force Hood by 41 points.

Worsham on Denver: “The Al-Anabi Toyota team leaves Denver with a little more progress. We qualified No. 3 and had a nice first-round win, but we didn’t get it done in the second round.  Everything has to work out just right to win a race, and it didn’t happen for our team today.  The good news is we clinched our spot in the Countdown, (Countdown to 1 NHRA Playoffs) and I am really proud of our Al-Anabi team for making that happen.  We have one more race left in the regular season to be ready for the Countdown to start at Indy(U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis).  The Al-Anabi Toyota team will be ready to go when we get to Brainerd next month.”

Next Race: The Al-Anabi Racing team will be back in action Aug. 13-15, 2010 at the 29th Annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Brainerd, Minn. For additional information, please visit www.nhra.com.  For additional information on the Al-Anabi Racing Team, please visit www.alanabiracing.com.
